For those that find themselves in Puerto Rico on vacation, or otherwise… don’t think you have to stick to the main island. If you haven’t been to the island of Culebra you are missing out on one of the world’s best beaches! It’s so close, it would be a sin not to visit. Don’t take my word for it; just google Flamenco Beach and you’ll find it on many of the top lists. White sands, and crystal clear blue waters are what you will find there. It’s the Caribbean at its finest, and feels so private even when there are 100 people spread across the beach. You find yourself tucked in a gorgeous cove with mountains all around you, palm trees, and a coral reef that is great for snorkeling. Culebra’s world renowned Flamenco Beach is no doubt the best beach I’ve ever been to in my entire life. I forgot to record some video of it, but here are some stills instead. Sorry I haven’t been posting much lately here on the blog; it’s been a crazy summer. We just got back from a vacation to Puerto Rico and Culebra Island about a week ago, and then my sister got married this last weekend. Stay tuned for a post about some of the places we visited while in PR.
Travel can easily wear you out, especially when you’re like myself and don’t get out very much. Lots of traveling, walking, and an unfamiliar bed are definitely a perfect recipe for wearing down your immune system. My vacation sort of got a little bit extended due to a nasty virus I must have caught on the airplane on the way home (you’ve got to love recirculated airplane air). There’s a nasty sore throat virus going around… a friend that lives a few towns over from me said he has the same exact thing. I’m on day 7 of it and was hacking up a bit of blood last night, because my throat was so sore and irritated. It’s basically a constant post nasal drip that just won’t stop. Orange juice burns if you try and drink it. Water is even like trying to drink gravel at times. Today I’m feeling better, but be careful not to catch this thing you guys, it’s a beast to kick. Keep your immune system strong so you don’t get this

Update: I kicked the sinus infection finally – had to take Zepac antibiotics just to get rid of it. An entire week of an excruciating sore throat, so sore that I was coughing up blood and having a hard time swallowing plain old water – I finally said ok enough’s enough. I usually can kick anything in 3 days taking plenty of fluids, and garlic, maybe some vitamin C – but this time my immune system couldn’t beat the infection, whatever it was. Stupid airplanes. Finally feel back to normal now.
It’s been an eventful month, but now I’m looking forward to the fall fairs and food festivals here in Connecticut, and shooting the beautiful foliage as well. We can’t wait to road trip up to Vermont for a day or two in the fall. There’s a possiblity of squeezing in a camping trip before it starts getting too cold. Summer went by WAY too fast!
